AGC EXECUTIVE


Chris Skappak
Chair

Chris is currently working towards a PhD in Pediatric Medicine at the University of Alberta, and this is his second year working with the AGC.  Chris' research is currently looking at the immune responses that occur when a patient with Asthma is exposed to multiple viruses.

Chris was AGC Vice- Chair last year, a former member of the University of Alberta Senate, and currently sits on the U of A's Academic Planning Committee (APC) and is the graduate student representative on the Ministry of Advanced Education and Technology's Student Finance Board (SFB).

 

Kristy Kutanzi
Vice Chair (Member Relations)

Kristy is pursuing her PhD in cellular and molecular biology at the University of Lethbridge. Her research focuses on the role of estrogen in the development of breast cancer.  Kristy’s interests in cancer research stem from her undergraduate experience investigating the effects of different doses of radiation at the University of Lethbridge.

In addition to serving as Vice Chair for the AGC, Kristy is the Vice-President External for the University of Lethbridge Graduate Students’ Association. She is also an active member of the University of Lethbridge
Senate; School of Graduate Studies Committee; and represents graduate
students in the biology department at her university.

Kristy is a member of the Environmental Mutagen Society and the Radiation Research Society.



Véronique Dorais
Vice Chair (Communications)
 

Véronique Dorais completed her B.A. and M.A. at McGill University. She is currently a PhD Candidate in the Department of English. Her SSHRC funded research focuses on deformed bodies in contemporary Canadian fiction. Aside from her academic endeavours, Véronique has been the Chair of the English Departmental Graduate Association, a member of the Alberta Graduate Council, VP Operations for the University of Calgary Graduate Students’ Association, and the incoming 2009-2010 President for the U of C GSA.

Some of her committee work includes, but is not limited to, the Board of Governors, the Humanities Re-structuring Committee, the Graduate
Faculty Council, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies Policy Committee
and Council.  

 

David Coletto
Vice Chair (Finance)

David is currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science at the University of Calgary. Last year, he served as AGC Chair and was President of the Graduate Students' Association at the University of Calgary from 2007-2008.  Prior to coming to Calgary, David was a consultant with a major government relations firm in Ottawa and a research analyst with a leading public opinion research company.

David received a BPAPM and MA from Carleton University. His research interests include election and party finance, comparative political party organization and elections.
